Ohiopyle, PA is located just four miles south of Frank LLyod Wright’s Fallingwater and only five minutes from Kentuck Knob. Ohiopyle, PA is the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat at our fine Ohiopyle restaurants, shop for local hand made goods and stretch your legs by the Youghiogheny River.
Ohiopyle, PA is known for great white water rafting, kayaking and fly fishing. If you just like to relax, try one of the beautiful hiking trails in Ohiopyle State Park, kick back by the waterfalls, or swim in the cool mountain waters of the Youghiogheny River. While you are here you can bike the Great Allegheny Passage and enjoy this stretch of Appalachia as the Ohiopyle biking/hiking trail winds its way from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington D.C. through the rolling hills of the Laurel Highlands in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
In Ohiopyle, camping and picnicking are activities enjoyed by many. Family and friends love to come to Ohiopyle State Park and build memories of warm fires and starry nights during any season of camping in Ohiopyle. In the summer, Ferncliff Peninsula is lit with millions of fireflies. During the fall foliage, leaves swirl their way down the Youghiogheny River in an array of colors. Winter brings skiers, snowboarders, snow mobiles and snow tubers to nearby Seven Springs, Hidden Valley and Nemacolin Resorts. In the spring, the bird watchers and wildflowers such as the trillium return to the area.
In Ohiopyle, hiking to see our many waterfalls is one of the adventurous activities you can do here in an afternoon. We have beautiful spots such as Ohiopyle’s Cucumber Falls, Meadow Run’s natural waterslides, Baughman Rock and Jonathan Run.
Stopping at the historic Falls Market and Inn is yet another Ohiopyle tradition. For over 100 years, Falls Market and Inn has been open year round, serving delicious homemade soups, fresh pressed burgers, fresh cut fries and hand dipped ice cream cones to Ohiopyle visitors. While at the Falls Market and Inn, you can get a deli fresh hoagie for your hike in Ohiopyle State Park, all of your camping needs including your hot dogs and Hershey bars and you can even schedule a catered meal for your group, wedding or rehearsal dinner.
Be sure to check out some of the other local eateries such as The Firelfy Grill on the Plaza for great BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and fresh made wraps, or head to the Ohiopyle Candy Company for frozen yogurt, hand poured fudge and homemade chocolates.
Save the dates for Ohiopyle’s Events. Don’t miss the famous Ohiopyle buckwheat pancake festivals in April and October. Not only are the festivals fun, but they also support the Ohiopyle Fire Department and community center. The New Spirit of the River festival in May offers wine tastings featuring wines from local Pennsylvania wineries such as Glades Pike and Christian Clay.
